Just curious since I'm going to order an m1530 soon..

If you're in the USA, how long did your order take and was the shipping date they predict on dell.com accurate? I'm going to be away on vacation from the 12th to 22nd and I want to know when to order to have it arrive right when I get back.

Also about hard drives: I will be playing games a fair amount, is the 320GB 7200rpm worth getting over the 250GB 5400rpm? The 7200rpm is $250 more than the 5400rpm, and I think 250GB will be plenty of space for me since I've been limited to the 60GB of space on this laptop for so long. Just in terms of performance though, I only really care about speed when it comes to gaming, is the 7200rpm 320GB worth it?

I don't know about shipping times, as I live in New Zealand. If you want a faster HDD, ring up and ask if they can give you the 200GB 7200RPM drive.

Yeah I think I might just go for the 250GB 5400rpm. I still wanna know how long dell will take to ship though! I just did a configuration and the projected shipping date was 8/19 which scares the crap out of me since I need it before I start college this fall...

By the way tumnasgt, how did you make your m1530 Alpine White, is that a custom paint job? I really REALLY dig that look.

They used to offer the Alpine White color.

Dell usually exaggerates the estimated shipping date. You should have it before August for sure.

    Thanks for the reassurance :p

Yeah that Alpine White look really looks sexy.. Does Dell allow you to customize the order further before it's shipped to you? Like if an Alpine White making period starts can I call in and order them to paint it like that before they ship it to me?

I just ordered an m1530, I'm not exactly an expert but My order had a ESD of 7/8/08, It shipped on 7/3/08. So I got mine shipped a tad before the ESD. As for the extra space/speed on the hard-drive, I went with the 320gig/7200RPM hard drive, I figured if I'm gonna spend this much money, might as well get the best I can get. (besides the 2.6 ghz processor, that's a ripoff)

Once again, I'm not an expert so I can't exactly tell you what the upgraded hard drive will do as far as gaming.

Dreon, your sig shows the exact same setup I'm planning on ordering :)
What games do you have and how do they run? And do you have new drivers or have you stuck with the stock ones?
