    Hi everyone!
Maybe you've seen my posts around about purchasing an M1530.
I'm about to order and while the whole issue with Nvidia is scary, i guess that's what having an old spare laptop and good warranty is for!
However, like most other people, I am concerned about purchasing a laptop that will soon be outdated by the new generation (Centrino 2).
My fear is very money-based. With the 30% off, I am getting an excellent deal on a top range XPS M1530 (9300, 8600, LED LCD, 4gig, 7200rpm, windows pro with 4 years and mad accessories) for under 2000USD (my budget is about 1300 euros, so it's all good).
A little research seemed to show me the new generation wasn't such a revolution, but as with any piece of technology, i would like to have the newest one.
However, and that is my main concern, if I wait, will i be able to afford a top range computer like the one i am considering, or will the same amount only get me a medium range rig of the new XPS laptop. I tend to think they won't let you get such a "nice" configuration for under 2000 dollars for until six months after the release...
    What do y'all think!
I'll keep updated with other questions that come up!
    Thanks a lot!
    Dav

I think you should just get it, unless you make ridiculous amounts of money i think its pointless to try to stay ahead of the tech game. the processors will just keep getting smaller, faster, and more expensive, same with gpu's. and with all technology, none is without fault or flaw. I just received my m1530 yesterday and i am dam happy with it.

very happy with it, design is beautiful. its a huge step-up from my old notebook. the only issue for me is heat management, its a pet-peeve for me. so you would probably want to invest in a cooling-pad for yours to keep temps down. :]

buy now and change every 3 months like some people?

unless u'r very worried about the GPU issue, i'd get it now (or whenever you need your laptop.. if u need ur laptop next year, then dont get it)

    Hey,
I say go for it!! Technology changes everyday, like the clouds do ;) :)

If you wait ~ you could lose on a great deal...and also set back ESD even further....OH...I have the 8600 ;) since 1/08 ~ and NO problems whatsover.

I have a fast lappy, that performs well for me, is sexy and sleek in *red*, and that is all that matters to me. I don't sweat the small *stuff* ;) :)

I'm happy that it does what I need to do, daily when I touch the keyboard!

    ;)

you're pretty right in what you're saying. The xps 1530 isnt a cheap peice of hardware and its getting more and more outdated. I got my current set up almost a year ago for ~1300 USD AND THAT WAS A GOOD DEAL. Now with Montevina out and a whole bunch of next gen gpus, its hard to justify spending so much something thats about to be outdated.

Dont get me wrong, I love my 1530. Its pretty futureproof, the 8600mgt ddr3 runs most games well, and it looks so nice that im carrying it to my work place without second thoughts.

Just try to make the best purchasing decision. If you're not a gamer, i think it'll still be worth it to get the 1530, since you can just configure montevina cpus and ddr3 memory and getting vista 64 on your system.
