Thanks..should i use Bios A8 or 6?
-
I think A08. I don't believe there's any reason to use A06, even if all you have is the 90-watt adapter.
-
bumpity bump.
-
Gr8 Thread gaah but I would still recommend the old IDT drivers coz this new one lowers the bass quality.
-
Pardon the lack of knowledge, but this driver "Intel Storage/AHCI/Rapid Storage Technology version 9.6.0.1014" is for everyone right? You don't need to have an SSD or anything like that? Can you give me a short description of exactly what this "technology" does on the system? and also where can I find it in Device Manager?
-
do we even need that driver?
-
Intel Rapdi Storage Technology software are the SATA/Raid/AHCI drivers from Intel, replacing Intel Matrix Storage Manager. Yes you need the driver if you're running in AHCI mode and want the best performance/stability. You don't need them if you've configured your system to run in legacy IDE mode.
-
Can you explain this a bit further? Is this a BIOS setting or how I installed Windows 7?
-
There are two modes you can operate your SATA devices in, legacy IDE mode which emulates IDE driver, and AHCI mode which exposes the additional features of SATA such as higher transfer rates, command queing, and features such as RAID. AHCI mode requires special drivers for the operating system and programs to properly see and access them, and to access the extra features. The setting can be changed in the BIOS. By default AHCI mode is used because it performs much faster and is the only way to use the features of SATA.
-
That's not true. There was a change only made to the special SRS filters, but you should disable those anyway if you want everything to sound properly.
-
So, since it's replacing Intel Matrix S.M., do we uninstall the S.M. first, or is it fine to just run the set-up file? Is this what you're currently running? and about the sound drivers are you running them as well (are they stable?)? Oh...the questions...
-
Everyone has their own opinion I can say. That drivers worked best for me and I can play anything in full volume after the 24Bit, 96000hz fix.
These Bluetooth Drivers works better : 6.2.0.9603
It would be grateful of you to Include the following driver too:
Synaptics Touchpad: http://drivers.synaptics.com/Synaptics_v14_0_3_C_XP32_Vista32_Win7-32_Signed_default.exe with Scrybe -
Do these drivers work for the SXPS 1640 as well? Also, there's a newer infrared driver on Windows Update. Works fine for me.
-
It should if the hardware matches.
-
It automatically uninstalls Intel Matrix Manager so Just run the setup and install it.
-
Do you think we're better off using the Dell video drivers or the ATI ones??
-
Hi all, I'm wondering if these sound drivers will conflict with the creative "upgrade" software option?
Other than that, I vote for this thread to PLEASE be stickied as it is full of win/incredibly useful!
Thanks a bunch OP! -
I would recomment ATi's for the meanwhile. The CCC app does has bugs but the drivers are stable.
-
The IDT drivers always conflicts Creative. There was an instance that When I installed Creative X-Fi, it used to disable SRS Premium and even If I enable it and restart the computer it will disable it again. So I took off Creative X-Fi of my notebook completely
.
-
Also, can each item be updated with recommended update method (i.e uninstall previous driver/software prior to update, or safe to install over top of existing driver/software)
-
Well if this is true then thank you Dell for having both of these things installed on my laptop by default lol...
-
whats a good benchmark so i can see the difference.
-
How about doing a file copy?
Updated with newest Synaptics driver, new Bluetooth driver, added SetPoint. -
silly question, most of these drivers, except the obviously not the bios, will work on 1640/47 too correct?
-
I believe so, yes.
-
Also are the 10.3s on strags the same I can download from the ati website?
-
They are in the case of the Radeon 3670/4670; it's the same base driver. The difference is the one at strags.com supports a lot more notebook vendors and cards than ATI's.
-
Thanks for the info gaah. I skimmed through this thread...I downloaded the bluetooth driver you recommended but someone linked an older one thats better? what are your thoughts?
Also do I need to download the IDT drivers if I have the Xfi? Do I install IDT first then Xfi? Or does XFi have a driver and take care of everything? -
IDT first then X-Fi. I think they're the same Bluetooth driver too because I update my post because of a suggestion by someone in this thread.
-
word thanks buddy
-
Honestly, are you attached to the X-FI software? Because it's quite buggy and doesn't play well with the IDT drivers in general.
-
Thanx Gaah
-
No sir! I havent even used it once yes. I just got a replacement 1647 and the guy threw it in for free. I just assumed it was better, as IDT is kinda not that great to begin with...
Should I give it a shot at least first before I toss it like you say? -
Be warned the junk of an update to the Synaptics Touchpad DISABLES multitouch for zooming and replaces it with a far inferior method of utilizing the far left side of the touchpad and IMO is terrible compared to the multitouch.
I wonder if Apple sued Synaptics for the multitouch and that's why they removed it? Too lazy to Google it, but I'd be willing to bet it as Apple sues everyone and everything that barely resembles one of their "patents".
A link to the most recent version WITH multitouch zooming will be very much appreciated!!! -
No it doesn't. My touchpad is almost like mac except for 4 fingers.
-
Please use the driver from uscrybe if you want multitouch features. There's a link in the first post (15.x).
-
So how do you install the broadcom driver and DirectX update? they are just files, no executables?
I also used the quickset you linked..it super ugly compared to my old one..I wonder I how I get the older look.. -
would i use both drivers then gaah?
-
Device manager > Networking > Broadcom > Update Driver..
I am wondering too what's my quickset version ... -
FWIW: WIDCOMM bluetooth software version 6.2.1.1500 has been avail for download from Broadcom site for a couple weeks now... -
How do you get passed the detection screen?

For those having issues w/Broadcom bluetooth driver update, there is a v6.3.0.3102 WIDCOMM bluetooth driver for Dell Wireless 375 and it maybe backwards compatible with Dell Wireless 370 also... -
Update for Bluetooth added.
-
Noticed after installing the Dell Wireless 375 driver, my 370 mini-PCIe is now listed under windows device manager as " Dell Wireless 370 Bluetooth Mini-card with AMP"
http://www.broadcom.com/press/release.php?id=s358211
Here's some info about AMP which appears to be next bluetooth spec:

Just finished installing the official 10.3 cats from ATI's website and the package doesn't include an HDMI audio driver..? or hydravision..
-
what's hydravision? any benefits over the current driver offerings from ATI's site?
-
Can anyone confirm that the 10.3 drivers from ATI's site does not install HDMI audio driver??? Or atleast help in how to check whether it is installed or not as i have installed the same drivers and dunno how to check for the same......
-
It is true it doesn't include a HDMI driver in the main package. Install the second package in the first post and it will install the HDMI driver.
