Forgive the (most likely) newbie question, but...

I can't seem to find the latest GFX drivers for nVidia GeForce 9400M. Yes, I know of Dells web site, but I mean latest latest.

Is this the case that we need to wait for Dells generosity or is there a trick to this? I've downloaded the package from nVidia but all it wanted to install was the audio HD driver, so no luck there.

Visit the Nvidia website. There is a specific page for GPU drivers.

    Did you read my post?

I've already tried nVidia, and the drivers from that site only want to install the HD audio driver, for some reason, instead of the GFX driver.

I've tried drivers for 9400M, notebooks, beta... still nothing.

If you have an SXPS13, the official Nvidia drivers don't work. You either have to get an inf hack, or use the Dell drivers.

Ahh, then that would be it. I DO have an SXPS 1340.

Any idea if the INF hack is safe? If so, where could I get it for the latest drivers?

you can get the latest video drivers from here: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showforum=139

just be careful when choosing one of the many versions, try reading the comments of other users to know witch one works best!

oh and the .inf thing is just an index of all the models, so you can actually use the driver for any Nvidia card, to use it simply extract the downloaded file, and then copy and replace the moded .inf to the extracted folder.

    best of luck!
