yea you had my hopes up a bit til i checked it, thats not loaded, its about right on par with the stuff Best Buy would normally sell it with. You can always get a better config. from the manufacturer.

It's a great deal if you were going to order the same spec'd laptop from Dell's site as you would be saving over 300-400 dollars. However, if you wanted different specs, then obviously, ordering from Dell's site will allow you to do so.

Its basically the base spec + BR drive
That in itself is saving 300 or so.

Basically the difference from the base spec is the BR drive and the p8600 processor.

It's a good laptop. I am using one right now. I would've picked it up if I did not get this one already.

Naw, the one I have I am returning back to Dell. The BT stopped working, the hard drive has crashed on me a couple of times now (have reformatted 3 times already), etc.

I have already ordered another 1640 laptop for my brother (and ended up getting a much better deal than mine - free upgrade to 3 yr warranty and free printer - except no 200.00 gift card) however I may just return the one I have now, and keep the one coming next week (hopefully more earlier, lol).

Oh noze! :(...Well, those are problems I wouldn't want to have, either. You did 3 reformat's, that shoulda taken care of the problem, for you!

Well cool though, that your bro' is getting one! :D

Whatever you decide to do with the one coming next week (or earlier) :D, I hope it all works out! ;)

    Cin ;) :)

Now they raised the price $100. This sucks. How long will it take for them to put it back down?

After seeing the reports by the community, I'm affraid they are loaded - loaded like a bomb waiting to go off! That machine is a mighty expensive paperweight.

If I had a new machine, and I had do reformat and reinstall due to problems, and not because I elected to do so, I would return that machine ASAP.

If you have a brand new machine that is writing bad data to the hard drive, do yourself a favor and send it back. vishank did the right thing.
