So I just got my new 1647 replacement set up finally and one thing I keep running into is an INCREDIBLY long black load screen between the windows 7 animation thingy and when you actually log in..
Even the windows 7 animation takes longer to load than normal...Than I get a black screen for a good 2 minutes before my mouse then shows up then about another 30 secs I get the login finally...
Whats going on? I have my old 1640 side by side and it boots instantly!
Also I noticed in CPU-Z it shows 8gb of ram but doesn't break down the timings or if its dual channel or not or even what slots they are in. On my 1640 when I run CPU-Z it breaks down all of that in detail. Its just all blanked out on the new one..Could it be running in single channel mode?
I was so happy to finally be over this and now I get this black screen of death...![]()

Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
It's a Driver problem I would try starting in safe mode then seeing which driver it hangs on you might have to reinstall windows
-
Also any idea about the memory? -
Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
Not sure about the memory but when the drivers load in safe mode you will see which one it gets stuck on its the long list of drivers that load

Ugh...Just going to reinstall windows...this is a joke..
It hung on "classpnp.sys" and I tried doing searches for it on google but I really dont have the patience to go through 1,000s of meaningless posts by kids who have no idea what they are talking about..so frustrated..IM glad I still have my old 1640..
Just finally got the old one setup right..Here we goooo again! -
Check your event viewer and see which service hung

I just wanted to know that mine hangs at classpnp.sys as well when I try to safe-mode load Win7. Weird problem. Seems like it's a known issue when I checked online.
G'luck with resolving the long-black-screen problem...
