    Hi.

    I have a old XPS 13 9345 laptop.

I'm looking to purchase a mini display port to HDMI adapter.

The purpose is to plug a separate HDMI cable into the female HDMI port for audio/video TV viewing.

I previously purchased a USB to HDMI adapter on eBay. Doesn't work very well. No audio from TV and the adapter occasionally overheats.

Just asking if anyone can recommend a good working mini display port to HDMI adapter.

Can you post the link where you purchase the product.

    Thanks

    TC.

That's because USB is not natively capable of sending video out. So some kind of conversion from raw data to video has to happen in that adapter, which also takes up quite a bit of CPU power. A normal adapter that outputs from your mDP port won't have those issues. Just go to Amazon, type in "mini displayport to hdmi" and you'll find a ton of cables that will work just fine.
