Try a USB one if you can afford the extra desk space because they can get quite hot. You might not want the extra heat in there. Although I think it would be fine, many would disagree.

I don't think the heat will cause damage but there are so many people on here who seem to say there is an overheating problem with the 8400M 1330, I don't know if they are right as I don't own a 1330 but if they are right then the extra heat wouldn't help.

I think you'd be fine but see what others say too. Depends if you believe there are overheating problems with the 1330.

I don't think it will be a problem as the express card slot is near the optical drive and at the other side off the cpu/gpu.

i have a USB tuner, after some use, if you grab the stick, its not scorching hot as in scream and run around shouting obscenities, but theres definitely heat coming off...

besides, a TV Tuner requires an antenna or cable... or at minimum a coax cable connected to the laptop.... so whats better? a express card tuner or a USB stick(my Pinnacle PCTV comes with a 6" USB extender cord) ?

As far I know you can :), even an antenna string serves as an antenna, if not you can just plug the included antenna and hide it inside of your laptop. (that mini-pci comes with an antenna)

Wow thinking again about it maybe Ill order one too for my loved m1330 :D.

Btw that mini-pci is covered with a heatsink, so I guess no overheat, also the m1330 mini-pci modules are FAR from the gpu.

Well they are not that FAR but far enough. Definitely let us know how the minipci works out and if we are able to use the WWAN antennas.

Well they are far enough, also as I said the mini-pci has a heatsink built in. They include an antenna, you can put it inside.

As far I know, and having modded my asus EEE with an extra mini-pci slot= The mini-pci modules have usb signals, they work pretty similar to an usb the mini pci draws power and then sends signals to the chipset, so you connect the included antenna to the tv mini-pci then you put it inside of the laptop I suggest back of the screen, then you install the drivers normally and use the provided software.

Damn this would be great, just imagine: you could be at the school seeing a Football game :D. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL XD

hahaha would be nice. I would just have a tough time finding a place to put that antenna they included. Seems like a pretty poor quality one as well. I just thought the WWAN antenna that Dell uses would be better implemented, but then again the antenna would be tuned to pick up the cellular signals and not the TV signals. Just for now I can't really justify paying the $75 or so for something that I would not really use much or need right now. I would definitely find a way to make it work inside my laptop if it were much cheaper or I had one on hand. I am a DIY myself, really wish I had a heat reflow tool.

If you read the thread I've linked, you'll see that there are two types of mini-pci connectors (with different placement of "key") : one with a key really close to an edge (Mini PCI Type-III) and one with a key a little futher from the edge (Mini PCI Express)

Futher investigation showed, that the card image on Intel side is of a mini-pci express[/n] type - google for "Mini PCI specification" and read (or better, look at the pictures) in section 5.4 - Mechanical Design Details, and then - google "Mini PCI express" (and read the Wiki article). The card you've given link to is definitley a mini-PCI express. And the port for WWAN card is - ...?

IF YOU CAN PUT AN INTEL TURBO MEMORY IN THE M1330 WWAN THEN THIS SHOULD WORK TOO.

If you actually read my post or even saw the ebay listing you should see that. My God is just a mini-pci express, what a big deal for a decal showing WWAN...

I have opened thousands of laptops including the m1330...
