Hey guys,
First post, what's going on? I could really use some advice on which laptop to purchase, mainly for gaming. I was looking at Alienware, and was told to look at XPS instead to receive equal, if not better performance, for a cheaper price. I ordered the XPS 15 last night, and see that I could get an XPS 17 with more ram, "better" GPU, for 200 bucks more. Now, what's really confusing me is the GPU. I know the 540M is similar to the 525M, but better clock speed, but I don't know much about the 555M. Is it a different architecture? Is it really going to be worth it for me to spend the extra $200 for the "better" gpu and more memory? The $200 wont KILL me, as I'm financing through Dell, and will be paying it off within the year. Any advice you guys could provide would be great, thanks in advance.
I'm mainly playing games like League of Legends, CS:Source, Darkspore, TF2, and plan on playing Diablo 3 (if Blizzard ever decides to finish the game).
Here are the builds.
15 inch - Intel Core i7-2630QM, 6GB DDR3 Ram, 15.6FHD TLF B+RGLED LCD 1080p, GT540M 2GB, 750GB HD, Bluray (price is $1299)
17 inch - Intel Core i7-2630QM, 8GB DDR3 Ram, 17.3 1080p, GT555M 3GB, 500GB HD, Bluray (price is $1499)
Thanks again guys.
