I saw a thread where the new xps gpu look like they are glued but not soldered? So can anyone confirm it is not soldered. If its not we can upgrade it in the future.
Also, is the cpu soldered?

Also is there two harddrive caddys in the r2?
-
The thread states in short regardless of if there is glue they are also soldered, hence the electrical connection or at the least glue would be harder to remove.
Neither the GPU or CPU are individually upgradable.
There isn't two hard drive caddys in the 15" as standard. There is in the 17".
You can replace the optical drive with another hard drive and run the optical drive from the eSata/USB port with a cable and caddy. -
Thank you for clearing that up bud. Is there pictures of the a dissembled r2 xps 15?
-
No worries.
Your best bet is to look at the Dell Service Manuals.
Documentation -
Thank you, also the subwoofer comes standard? I hope so :/
Also did anyone onthis forum take it apart?
EDIT i rep you -
-
There are people on here that have taken their l502 apart but I don't think anyone's really documented it. Internally they are more or less identical to the l501 from the sound of it and looking at the service manuals.
I'm still waiting for mine to arrive, getting real impatient. -
Me too i just ordered it yesterday, when did you order yours?
and thank you mac for the confirmation -
Also is the cpu soldered? or is that upgradeable?
-
CPU is soldered as is the Intel 3000HD graphics. -
Idn if this is a plus but the first day i ordered it 2 hours later the status said in production. Also are you from the united states?
-
Nah UK. Mine went started being "in production" yesterday :| It should have arrived by then :|
-
So i guess its a plus for me lol
-
Dell UK is pretty horrendous all-round, fewer options, higher price, same useless phone support and out-sourced hardware support that don't tell you when they can't make a date.
Still cant beat the price though -
Lookng into the future
