    Hello.
you know when you buy a laptop off dell you get pre installed the dell data safe. then all you have to do is click on it and setup an account. normaly there is a subscription for free when you buy your laptop. i lost that icon because of a hard drive wipe. were do i get that software again? and no dell.com/datasafe dont work. i need the software that you get that will make you an account based on your service tag so it know what to give you for size.

Is it not on one the CD's? If not I think your gonna have to contact Dell, I would reccomend emailing them. Unless of course you set up the account already in which case you download the file from dell.com/datasafe, install and login. This may have been a usefull thing to use before you formatted your hard drive. Just a thought.

I would just shoot them an email and see if they can set you up an account on there end and just issue you a temp password as there doesnt seem to be any option to open a new account by service tag.

I had the same issue, I had a 10GB subscription that came with a PC I bought, wiped the hard drive and gone was datasafe.

I tried contacting dell and having them give me a 10GB account but after 3 people promising me that it would get done, it never did, I gave up.

Don't give up, there are other channels. Did you contact them by email or if it was by phone did they send you an email like theyre supposed to? There is a case number (not sure if its actually called case number) when you contact them for support, if they dont resolve it you take that number and shoot an email to what I believe is called escalations which is for unresolved support and they seem to be pretty good, you may even get un upgrade to that 10GB for your troubles. I will try to find a link. You could also try to start a blog on Direct2Dell and talk to Lionel or Todd who are both very helpful. http://en.community.dell.com/blogs/direct2dell/
