I'm scoring about 1080 or so on my 1330 on 3Dmark06 with the nvidia 8400m gs motherboard. T 7500 cpu and 3 gig ram. Vista 32 bit. Right now I've got the 179.28 video driver, the others i've tried are similar.

Are these typical results? If I'm underperforming, what should I look at for improvements?

I'm not at all knowledgeable when it comes to this sort of thing, so pretty much treat me like an idiot when it comes to GPU's and such.

Download HWMonitor and run it. Then, with it still running, run 3dmark06.

I suspect your GPU is overheating and downclocking. This is a fairly know issue in the M1330. The best remedy is actually linked in my sig.

I think its overheating, the M1330 has that problem anyways

That's a good point from Hep.

Another possibility is maybe your GPU is dying. When mine died last time I experienced lower and lower 3D performance as time went on.

The power profile is "High Performance" however I didn't see anything under the power profiles that affects graphics performance. I just ran the 3Dmark 06 with a score of 1075 (SM2.0 is 370, SM3.0 is 386, and CPU is 1909). CPUID hardware monitor says peak temp for the GPU was 84C. The notebook is on a cooling pad, two weeks ago my motherboard was replaced, and I don't think this computer has ever scored higher than 1100 on 3Dmark06 and I've had it for a year.

Is there something that tells the GPU to kick into high gear that isn't doing it's job? Perhaps I turned off too many applications when I was getting rid of bloatware? Or maybe I need to uninstall and re-install the driver? I'm not really sure if the computer works without the driver in place.

They were checking if the laptop was plugged into an outlet. It sounds like it was though.

If you were getting 1100 and now you're getting 1075... that's not really a big deal at all. I wish I could remember what I used to get on my .M1330.

I just did a 3Dmark06 run while monitoring with rivatuner:

Core Clock / ROP domain = 297 mhz
    Core Clock / Shader Domain = 594
    Memory Clock = 300 mhz
Core Temp = 80 degrees (pretty flat for most of 3Dmark06 run)

    graphic max:101degree

is it over heating? i think my notebook was manufacturing on feb 2008, i know there's issue with m1330, but just can't resist the price of 300 dollor canadian and warrenty until may 2010

Problem fixed! I can't wait to try some games now but I think this computer has been messed up since I got it a year ago.

Anyway, I uninstalled the nvidia driver, then it re-installed a driver upon restart. Now I'm getting 1667 on 3Dmark06. The GPU got up to 92C and the clock speeds were up to 432/864 and memory speed of 601; previously, the memory speed was cutting back to 300 when the other clocks sped up.

Thanks for the quick replys guys I appreciate it.
