    Hello,

I have an M1730 that is out of warranty. It appears that my wife damaged the motherboard where you plug in the power cord to the computer. The cord is very loose in its socket on the laptop, so Im thinking something broke loose from the MB?

The battery will not charge and when I run HWMoniter it shows just 11.27 to 11.5 volts when it should be running at 12.5 to 12.87 volts or so.

Any suggestions? Can a repair shop fix it? New Motherboard?

    Thank you

Well the charging port is soldered onto the laptop on the inside. You can get replacement ports on eBay for pretty cheap for pretty much any make/model that has been out for awhile off eBay.
Installing it would be the hard part.
