EDIT: Should have searched for WWAN.

My question is has anyone tried it? Is this for 3G only? Can I pop in my T-mobile sim and use GPRS or EDGE?

I ordered my M1210 with the A/V package and it looks like I still need to buy the card. Which one do you recommend?

    Thanks,

You'll need the Dell Wireless 5500 WWAN Mini Card if you want to go with Cingular's 3G network (UMTS/HSDPA). Unfortunately T-Mobile's own 3G network won't be up until the middle of next year, and even then it will be on yet a completely different band (1700MHz/2100MHz which is different to the 2100MHz band for Europe/Asia/Rest of the world), so you'll be stuck with 2.5/2.75G EDGE access. (The rest of the world uses the 2100MHz band for UMTS/HSDPA, while Cingular uses the 1900MHz band). And the card *should* be Quad Band 850/900/1800/1900 GSM/GPRS/EDGE and Tri Band 850/1900/2100MHz 3G UMTS/HSDPA (but you are best to ask a Dell sales/technician directly.

The Dell Wireless 5700 Mini Card will work for CDMA EV-DO Rev.0 (I suppose it could also work with the upcoming faster Rev.A with a firmware update should Dell decide to release one), and you can use it with Verizon or Sprint. However, roaming capability is greatly reduced since all of Europe, and the rest of the world uses GSM tech (UMTS/HSDPA).

As for which one to go for... it really depends on which carrier you want to open your 3G data account with.

Has anyone determined of the 5500 WWAN HSDPA card is indeed Tri Band 850/1900/2100MHz 3G UMTS/HSDPA? (i.e. will work in Europe, Asia, etc, and not just the USA)

I found this link on the Dell site about the card but it says nothing about 850/1900/2100
