I have the M1330 with the Panasonic combi/dvd drive

Today found there is one or more disks jammed in the drive - eject mechanism doesn't eject. (Guess this is something to do with 2.5 year old son).

As I understand it there is no facility to insert a paperclip to get the disk(s) out.
Has anybody had this problem and can advise how easy it is to solve? Does it need a visit from Dell?

if one of my little girls tried that with the bluray drive on my new XPS, i would probably try to send HER back to dell for an exchange...haha...seriously though thats quite a predicament you're in, would that even be covered by warranty? If i were you, i wouldn't chance trying to remove them urself and cause the eject mechanism to get even more f'd up then it already might be. Plus, if there were a fail-safe eject option, i would assume it would be for ONE disc stuck in the drive

Might have to call Dell about this. I've never seen, heard, or read anything about a fail safe for slot drives.

I actually had a similar problem. Someone put a "small (dont know what they are called) cd in the slot
I got it out with a thin butterknife, kind of lifted the cd up and pulled it out.

Sorry for my english, and good luck :)

High there explore your computer select the drive Right click drive now select Eject this soft eject sometimes work or the other way is when system is booting up press the eject button on media panel..
Your about the fifth person I have heard this happy to..
If all fails you need to get the drive replaced by Tec support.

My interpretation was right - there were two disks in the drive. I believe the second was inserted over the top of the first.
Eject button was trying to eject but not succeeding.

This is how I got them out (I am making no guarantee you won't damage the drive if you try and follow these instructions):

Firstly I was working on the assumption that the hub of the drive is at the bottom - that the top DVD was not being ejected because the mechanism couldn't push both out and the bottom DVD could not be pushed out because the top DVD was stopping it lifting clear of the hub. It seems this was correct.

I cut two pieces of paper - the width of a CD and one end rounded like half a CD.
On one piece I cut a rectangular window which would be near the outside edge of the DVD and stuck some sticky tape over the aperture so that it could be stuck to the top of the top DVD (the thin removable kind of sticky tape you can write on).

Using a small penkife as a probe and guide, I inserted the tapeless sheet of paper in-between the two DVDs. It would only go in as far as the hub.

Then, again using the penknife as a guide, I inserted the other sheet of paper over the top of the top DVD. I could push that in a long way.

Then I used the flat blade of the knife to gently push the sticky tape so it stuck to the top surface of the top DVD.

Finally I pulled both pieces of paper out. The top DVD came with them - so easily that at first I thought I was leaving it behind.

Once the top DVD was out the bottom one was seen to be partly out and could be withdrawn by hand.

Since then the drive seems to be working normally. It remains quiet. It ejects normally. I haven't tested burning any disks yet though - which is usually the most sensitive operation.

See attached photos of the DVD as it came out.

[The machine was on when I did this - though at no time did I trigger an attempt to eject the disk]

I suppose that is fairly loud - but it doesn't bother me. I suppose it would if I was using the machine in a library.

great work - will keep that in mind when i get a disc stuck in mine.

my car has a slot-loading cd drive - and a couple have been stuck in that one in the past. to get it out, i used another cd to try to jam the first one in, wriggle it around, all while pressing the eject button. it's worked after a few goes in the past - so i always thought i'd try this method with the m1530...

I got a mini disc stuck in my xps once too. I wanted to see if it'd work. All i did was keep pushing the eject button. The disc came out a bit, then i used my finger to get it out the rest of the way.

I think it's stupid that there isn't a failsafe though.

    I found a easier way
Just get a regula sized CD, wrap tape all the wa around the center, so that the sticky side faces upward, push the eject button, while the other CD is spinning, stick the sticky CD in, push down a little to get it to stick, and just pull it out. When I did it it came out really easy, andon the first try.
