Which M1330 looks nicest in person, for a Early/Mid 20's, Female, College?

I am *strongly* leaning towards buying a M1330, have pretty much worked out the specs, now I am stuck on color. ;) I admit black looks sleekest since everything then looks black and silver, but I can't decide which color would be best for me.

I am hoping some of you have seen the colors in person and know what looks best. I think Pink is probably over the top, blue probably too masculine, black being a finger print magnet, white being a dirt magnet, red potentially being a 'dull' red in person (is it a vibrant, pretty red?).

(I notice with the best deal I've found ... if choosing red I'd be limited to the 320 5400rpm HDD, rather than also being given the 7200 option like the other colors ... sort of weird.)

Soooooo ... what do you think?

My friend has the black one and i really like how it looks. I think the black looks the best, does not stand out too much and it matches what ever you want, especially good for school. I made the fantastic choice of the XPS m1730 in bone white for college!

On the fingerprint note though, its not as bad as you would think, the m1730 is terrible with that but my bud's 1330 seems to always look clean unless you takes a light and scan it. Plus you can get a polish cloth to get rid of those easily, if it does not come with one.

I would most likely go with black myself.

I have the 1530 in red (and am a girl) ;) :)

And, I love it! ;) It's a great color...When I was torn between the 1330 vs. 1530 I was going to order it in the red. :)

And, I get lots of nice comments on it, when I am out-and-about with it. ;)

So, it is in no way a *dull red* color..The 1330 or 1530 in red.. is a sleek, and sexy color! ;) :) :D

    Hoping this helps! ;) :)

I have the 1330 in black. You realy dont get fingerprints on it very much - unless your fingers are really greasy!
I think it looks more professional then the others.

Well if that Avitar is even close to the real thing then I don't think those comments are necessarily being directed towards your 1330... :D

I have seen a black lidded M1330 and i was not so keen on the look of it. It did get fingerprint marks pretty easily and it didn't look anything special to me.

The white M1330 is glossy and is not a fingerprint magnet like some of the other colour options are. All the other colour options come in a micro satin finish but the white like i said comes in a glossy finish.

I think that the alpine white one is the best with the red one probably being 2nd best.

I'd prefer Midnight Blue. Since your a female, you could go from a Pink (it matches for ladies) or just go plain with Black

Pink sounds nice for a female, but midnight blue is the way to go :D.

Thanks! That does help. You obviously knew what I meant, some reds could look really blah and not so nice. I haven't seen it in person, but I was hoping it'd be more sleek and sexy. ;) More like ... lipstick red and not worn-out childrens-toy red.

Yes, I just wasn't sure if the red was nice in person. But it's moving up strongly on my list ... feeling kinda torn between black and red right now.

While researching this laptop I found info that the pearly white was only when the M1330 was first released, and that the color was discontinued do to a more tedious/lengthy process to achieve that finish. So I assumed the new Alpine White has the same finish as the rest now. Naturally, I am not sure of this, but that's what I read and I do notice instead of Pearlescent White it is now Alpine White.

I like the white one best.
The red second best (it's a nice red red).
If the pink is the same as the pink on the Inspiron, it's too orangey.
The blue is very dark -- almost black.
The colors on the Dell site aren't really accurate.

I bought a pink 1520 last year (which I sent back due to a bad screen and other problems). The microsatin paint attracted dust which was hard to wipe off. With the white, you have a shiny enamel finish that is easy to wipe off. With the pink, or any color that uses the microsatin finish, the dust tends to stick.

Yes, I read the same - but Rachel's the expert in this area (as well as battery-charge life and a few other key 1330 topics :) ).

I would be inclined to choose Black first and then the Midnight Blue.

Update on the white: Chat dude with Dell told me it is pearly. Telephone girl with Dell told me it is like the others, satin matte. Way to help, Dell!

Update: Also, when you go to customize the laptop ... it says in the build specifications on the right "high gloss casing" for the white and blue. Ugh, this is so weird. It's such a stupid thing, but I would like if Dell could tell me for certain the finish of the white. :p Mainly because ... I probably what red, but if it's a glossy white it might be slightly more protective and less dirt-fingerprint showy so I'd be inclined to get white.

*rips out some hair* Can't a Dell employee at least just look at one or something? LOL. It's so stupid.

White is glossy, does not have the rubbery microsatin finish that all the other colours have. While white, due to the finish, is not a fingerprint magnet, it can be scratched easily. I happened to love the white, I think it looks very classy. I would also say that no matter what colour, I would look into protecting the finish with a "skin".

    Lol

The Alpine white is a glossy white on the XPS M1330 line up. Here is a post here from someone who owns one.

Pearl white doesn't look bad if your wanting that macbook exterior look.
But it must be noted that 'i think' the inside finishings of the M1330 has black trimmings, so if you get the red or white or blue or pink, i dont think the inside trimmings will be such colors also, rather the silver keyboard, aluminum palm rests and black trimmings above the screen, below and the media controls.
So that said, the black suits the them of black and silver all throughout the notebook, which is why i chose it. Anal i know! :)

I felt that way at first, too. When I saw the display in BestBuy, though, I was a little disappointed with the black! I thought it'd look more sleek, more modern or something. Instead, the black seemed dull and kinda fingerprinted. :/ I started to reconsider colors more. And now ... I think it's OK with me. From the outside you see the black of the battery, but that's not bad ... and once opened you mainly just see the nice brushed aluminum look - the black keys above are there but it's not like once opened you see it all together, really.

Actually, the more I keep looking ... visually, I love the way the white looks with the silver. In a perfect world, yes, I'd make the other places white to match!

I am not at all going for the MacBook copycat look, but ... I think people just say that because MAC came out with white notebooks first?? I don't exactly get it, I see that comment made about all white notebooks it seems. It's a PC, and the Dell logo will clarify that for anyone. ;)

No need to *rip out your hair*...just throw your hands up in frustration!! ;) :) LOL

Honestly, the Red 1530...for me I hardly get any fingerprints at all.

Like I said, I love the *red* tis Sleek, Sexy, and can be a headturner ;) :)

The 350GB 5400rpm drive is about the same speed as the 200GB 7200rpm drive. The 350GB drive may spin slower, but the information is packed more densely so they read at about the same speed. So if you like the red, don't worry about the 350GB hard drive that it comes with being slower.

I don't know what configuration you're planning to get, but I'd advise getting one with the intel X3100 graphics. People who have an M1330 with the Geforce 8400 card have been having problems. There are a lot of victims in this thread

and now Nvidia has admitted some of their cards were defective.

It's hard to pass up the chance to go with a non-black Notebook seeing as 9/10 Notebook vendors sell only black Notebooks.

Secondly, there's no doubt that my Thinkpad T60 reeks of corporate business and nothing about it looks cool / sexy etc. But, when placing my black 1330 next to the Thinkpad, the 1330 starts to look like something Bond, James Bond might have gotten from Q ;)

Thanks to the silver stripes on each side of the cover, I rarely get a fingerprint on the matt finish and I always carry it in a sleeve. So please don't base your decision solely on a Best Buy demo unit that's been slimed-on by the masses... :p

And as my last push for Black: My gf keeps @my place a set of jogging clothes, lounging-around stuff and one, yes "one" black dress - in the event I suggest it's L.A.-style Salsa night @Floriditas and she came over dressed for Sushi-take-out-n-DVD-rental (a pair of "emergency" black pumps is a given)... . The *black* La Perla's my contribution but that's off-topic (but black... :p )

I wish they had a bright turquoise-y color. I think that'd be the coolest. ;) It'd look sexy with the silver and the black accents. I saw it imposed on a picture through a place that does custom paint jobs on the M1330 - but $, and I wouldn't do something to void warranty. ;) Still ... I think it'd be a killer lid color.
