So when I plug my hdtv in via HDMI, it works great picture looks good and so on. The tv is to my left so I go into personalize and then into display settings so that I can move the monitor so it is to the left of my laptop (For dragging and such). That stays that way until I turn the computer off or unplug it. How can I get it so it does not move the monitor back to the right every time it turns on?

Try out Ultramon here. There's a 30 day free trial, and if you like it, it's only $40. It's got basically every multi-screen/monitor feature you could ever want and fixes a lot of the problems that windows has supporting multiple screens/monitors. I'm sure there are some free tweeks or programs you could use, but I've had nothing but good experiences with ultramon + m1330 + dell SP2208WFP 22 inch monitor through hdmi.

UltraMon is the daddy for sure, but it would be worth trying DisplayFusion first - seeing as it's FREE

I can vouch for Display Fusion too. It's a great little toolset for desktop and window management.
