Hi I have just got a new HD tv and have been trying hd via my m1330 with Geforce 8400 GS

1: Is they a quick way to save output setting on monitor 2 to save screen out and hdmi sound output settings when I plug the hdmi in ?

    2: Can the m1330 output 1920 x 1080p at 50hz ? I can only get it to go to 30hz

4: What is the best driver to use for HD output on monitor 2 ?

    5: Also is 24 30 50 or 60 hz best for HD at 1920 x 1080p

thanks for any help Shoom =]

This is just a random guess, but some TV's that are labeled "1080p" surprisingly can only accept "1080i" signals; it may only apply to older 1080p TVs and cheaper ones. Since LCDs can't actually display interlaced images, I'm guessing it has to display at 30hz to correctly display progressive images. 1080i is alternating lines of resolution at 60hz, so if you combine the alternating images you have twice as few frames? I'd say check your manual and make sure the TV can accept 1080p signals.

60hz is better... less ghosting on fast moving images etc.

This depends. If you are interested in gaming, you will want to achieve a high FPS rate to reduce lags which result from triple/double buffering etc. That means 60Hz at least if you're gaming. However you won't game in 1920 x 1200 with a GeForce 8400M GS unless the game is very very very old.

A movie is recorded at 23.976 fps. And in general you will want to output this resolution. Some people consider displaying the movie at this rate the best quality. Other people rely on motion blurring and raising the fps rate. In any case: Up to now only TVs do that upsampling of temporal information. No computers/laptops can do this in a good quality. Besides that outputting in 24Hz allows for longer HDMI cables.

A sports event such als the olympic games are broadcasted in 1080i 50/60Hz interlaced. In this case you will want to output at this rate and depending on the horsepower auf your laptop and the quality of your TV the deinterlacing is either best done by the TV or the laptop.

I'm guessing the limitation is with your television. I use my Samsung LNT-5265F as my principle monitor for my m1330 at 1920x1080p @ 60hz.

I can confirm now that its not the tv. I connected my stationary computer to it and it worked fine at 60 Hz. So what can it be??
