Hi,
First time XPS user and I'm pretty disappointed as this is the third time Dell is repairing the M1330 in four months of ownership. Repairs in order:
1) DVD drive died.
2) Motherboard and electrical supply replaced after computer died.
3) Hard disk is making a constant, hi-pitch squealing noise. I thought it was the motherboard but the annoying sound is emanating from the HDD area. I removed the HDD and turned on the laptop and no noise.
Anyone having this issue? I am using the laptop, the HDD works, but I get a headache because the sound is loud.

what hard drive do you have?

The Fujitsu 120gb went bad. They sent a refurbished Seagate Momentus 7200. Should I be worried about refurbed?
Thanks.

what i think it is....
when i have my wifi / wireless TURNED OFF. . and my linksys wireless plugged in via usb...i DOES NOT make any noise. BUT when i use the wifi / TURN ON the wifi RIGHT AWAY it starts to make the WHINING / SQUEALING noise bottom right of the laptop, (near the wireless port)...sooo annoying...im about to sell mine and get a macbook
unless someone can help get rid of the noise. but i doubt it.
