I don't know if this information is already known, but I called Dell support to complain over the high pitched noise problem of my motherboard.
They asked me to check which mobo revision I had (can be seen on either of the two RAM you have installed "Rev: ##") and told me that Rev 01, 02 and 03 suffer from those high pitched noises.
So if you think your M1330 is a bit whiny, check your motherboard revision WHILE ON THE PHONE WITH TECHNICAL SUPPORT (not doing so might result in voiding your warranty), Rev 01, 02 and 03 would result in them changing it for you without further questions if you're still under warranty. If you're not under warranty and want this fixed, make sure that you get a Rev 04+ motherboard when you buy a new one. The newer revisions are also supposed to not suffer as much from the GPU problem, so complaining about the GPU getting hot might also give you a new rev.
As for the HDD, if it constantly makes some kind of low clicking-ish noise that most likely means it's got corrupt sections. If you can hear this noise, which isn't like the ordinary writing noise that a HDD can sometimes make, call and you'll have the HDD replaced as well.
Maybe all this is already known, in that case I say sorry and you can remove this thread.
Cheers. Getting my motherboard rev updated and HDD exchanged this Friday.

What is the latest mobo revision? Mine is a 04 and the southbridge whines a lot.

I don't know, I will call tomorrow to tech support again to ask and also to tell them that I want some higher rev than 04, if the southbridge whines.
Hmm, I just remembered that the service is 24/7, so I'll call them in a bit. I hope I won't have to wait forever for them to pick up.
Edit,
I'll call tomorrow instead, right now I can only reach the English support line, I'd rather talk to the same guy that helped me today since he was pretty helpful.
