This is a firmware update to the drive, not a driver.

I had to update the firmware recently to be able to burn some of the new dvd's coming out on the market. One day you will need to do this if you burn alot of media like I do.

So far all I noticed is that it will attempt to eject (it will make the grinding sound) everytime you hit the button. So I'm guessing this will help with people who have issues ejecting discs.

    Guys,

This firmware update is not just for eject "enhancements". I had issues where the burner was not burning new dvd's I had just bought. The firmware update also updates the drive's ability to recognize various new dvd media.

Because the update isn't for that drive...it's an update for the specific firmware for a specific drive.

Idd the eject noise is very annoying, everytime I come out standby or hibernate, the noise is extra hard. Everyone thinks *** was that.
I hope someone knows how to go back, or hoppely it will be fixed in the next update.

Am I missing something? My m1330 has been "ejecting" while start up, coming out of stand by or when pressing the eject button regardless of whether there is a CD/DVD in the slot drive or not... I wish it was only working while there was something in it; I would have been happier that way.

If I read correctly, you guys actually encountered this after installing this driver. Himm... Interesting...

    I also have a MAT****A drive.

can't you leave a dummy empty cd/dvd in there then when it comes out of Standby etc it will just try to read the disc, not eject it.

Nothing special - D/L the file, ran it & it extracted another EXE, ran that EXE which ID the existing F/W as well as the intended package, clicked update, reboot when finished. Now I regain the peace....
