    M1330 Pre-Emptive Mobo replacement?

    Hello, my m1330 is showing signs of gfx/mobo failure, but there is no real way to prove it to the techs. Is there a way to call in and get my mobo replaced without forcing the failure?

    Also, I'm in Canada and we have no on-site service here.

    If it is showing signs of failure, you have nothing to prove.
    Be aware the replacement will also have the same gpu flaw and may go out again unless you ask for a Intel gpu board.
    If your goal is to get an exchange at some point, then send it in for service and plan to do it several times before they think about an exchange.

    Well my goal is to get the mobo replaced, and then to use it for the rest of its life.

    I have one month left before the extended warranty runs out, and it's showing signs of failure, so I want to have a fresh start before the warranty is out and can use it for as long as possible.

    My worst case scenario is for the laptop to die within a few months after warranty expiry.

    In that case, if you can do without the nvidia gpu, ask them to install the integrated intel gpu main board to avoid this failure again.
    They may do that for you.

    At least this way you can retain some re-sale value of the laptop.
    If you plan to sell at anytime, any buyer will find all the issues on the nvidia gpu via google.

    I have serious doubt about whether or not Dell would put a Intel chip in as long has his laptop is covered by the extended nVidia warranty (I assuming that is what he meant by extended warranty anyway). I mean it seem like a no brainer to me to replace the faulty chip with a cheap Intel chip and not have to deal with it over and over again. But I bet Dell's policies wouldn't allow for that. :rolleyes: However, please prove me wrong because I would love to have my GPU switched for the Intel without having to have a full warranty!

    Mine's starting to die too. Slowing down while watching youtube (standard def), and GPU at 95C.

    I have til Aug when my complete care 3 year ends, and then my extended.
    This'll be my 3rd failure, so I'll push for a replacement.

    Edit:
    Actually, last time, it never slowed like this. It would all of a sudden just randomly shut itself off, and then the lines would appear.
    This time, my youtube keeps freezing, and the system slows down. Then I'll start going again.
