Hello there folks. Please dont flame me if I ahve missed soemthing obv.

I have trawled around looking for the answer to this and have found nothing that answers my question.
I am a very happy owner of an XPS M1330... however the other day my charger stopped working "it is no longer being recognised"... and whilst it powers my laptop, it refuses to charge the battery.

Dell have agreed to send me a new charger, but on close inspection of the picture my dad sent me (i live in Spain and they refuse to deliver here so i have had to relay it by him)... it appears to have a round jack (the bit that goes into the laptop).

On my current charger a 65V A00 i have an octagonal jack.... so my question is simple....

Will my replacement "round/barrel" jack work on my laptop (with its octagonal hole) or have Dell sent me the wrong part????

Please help as I have spent the best part of 2 hours on the phone to them and onyl have 3% battery remaining!

    Kind regards

    Maddy.

I'm from the UK and the 'jack' that goes into my laptop is a round one.

I have only ever seen round ones in this country and it would usually be the same all throughout Europe.

Yeah apparerently the M1330 and M1530 (not sure about the later) are the only models fitted witht he rectagonal jack. I bought the laptop when I was in the UK, so I know the Uk model can come with it... however the replacement is round???

My XPS only just arrived and it is a round peg/jack. It is supposed to be round...If you are getting a round one they it is fine.

If you bought the laptop in the Uk then a round peg/jack will 99.9% fit!

You could post a picture of where the jack plugs into on your laptop if you want.

Are you looking at the correct side? One side has the S-Video output which isn't quite round, are you getting confused between the two?

The power plug is on the left of the laptop on the side where the Esc key is on the keyboard...

I believe they changed the jack from the octagonal shape to being round. The round A/C plug does work, but AFAIK, it doesn't fit quite as snugly.

Yeah im defo looking at the correct side... ive had the laptop for 5 odd months... the jack that i have has an octagonal barrell.... the one they are sending ahs a round one.

I just want to make sure the one thay are sending is correct. I cant find any examples of an octagonal barrell anywhere (picture wise).

    Edit:
Thanks Bauer... thats a relief... do you know where I might be able to find an original???

I am sitting here using my personal M1330 in one of our conference rooms with a corporate-owned power supply with a round PS plug - it works fine.

The round plug would be the normal dell plug. It works fine with the m1330
The octagonal plug is only on the power supplies made specially for the XPS series. I have the 65W supply and it has the octagonal plug.
Talk to dell, and order the spare one. The model for my power supply is : LA65NS2-00
    Part No : NX061
