1) Uninstall Dell WIDCOMM Bluetooth Software 6.0.1.3100
2) Install Anycomm WIDCOMM BT 6.0.1.5300 & Reboot
3) Uninstall WIDCOMM BT 6.0.1.5300 & Reboot
4) Reinstall Dell WIDCOMM BT 6.0.1.3100
After several hours and then some on two different m1330s, I finally found a workaround for some of you with sleep / hibernation problems. After the above crazy procedure, my sleep + hibernation work perfectly with all three drivers (Dell OEM, 156.66, 163.69). (Sleep also works if you simply uninstall Dell's BT software and leave it at that).
Before all of this, I got all the same symptoms that so many described. Specifically, after sleeping for the 1st time, waking up, and then trying to sleep again, the computer "refuses to sleep". It then seems that the "fan is on all the time" as it tries to sleep. All attempts to get it out of this mode or "wake up from sleep" fail. At this point, the only thing you can do is a long power press to shut down abruptly and vista then restarts saying "windows didn't shut down properly." Also, all of these symptoms happen no matter what nvidia driver is installed (Dell, 156.66, 163.69)
Incidentally, I also tried all the recommendations suggested by many others. One did work, which was avoiding "sleep" altogether, and always forcing hibernation. But hibernation takes forever! So I decided I had to figure it out...
Someone also said turn TMM back on (as opposed to flamenko's tweaks), but TMM had no impact on this problem.
So how can I get dell to update their BT driver from 6.0.1.3100 to 6.0.1.5300?

I just tried it, and no change. My sleep still turns off my computer abruptly. I press the power button and it said windows shut down unexpectedly.

i'm using the default bluetooth drivers installed by vista (did not install the dell ones ) and 163.69 works perfectly - both hibernation and sleep
-
On my m1330, the default vista bluetooth drivers install, but do not allow me to use my bluetooth device headset. Dell's bluetooth software does work and lets me use my BT headset, but as I said, on both my m1330s, it prevented the computers from sleeping.

The Starkey vista bluetooth drivers work fine on my m1330 - no hibernation/sleep problems and I can use my Sony BT headphones. Same on 156.66 nvidia drivers as well.

I tried those drivers, which are a slightly updated (6.0.1.3400) from Dell's 6.0.1.3100), but both of my m1330s still have a sleep problem with BT software installed. Anyone else have this weird problem?

use Nvidia 156.66 drivers and all is good......

Also, I updated my original post with a better solution that allows BT + sleep / hibernation to work. -
Thank you, thank you. This works on my 1420 as well. For three months, I've tried everything: every driver from laptopvideo2go, every Vista hotfix (including the Oct 23 set), every possible variation of power settings, including hybrid sleep on/off, USB selective suspend, upgrading the Sigmatel audio drivers, the TMM trick, etc. Nothing. Finally just two days ago, I figured out that it had to be some USB device that was holding the system up, and then I figured that because Bluetooth sometimes didn't come back properly after the first, successful sleep, that it had to be in Bluetooth. I googled "Dell Bluetooth sleep," and found this thread.
I found the Anycomm drivers here. I wasn't able to uninstall the Dell drivers -- they kept reinstalling a driver/stack that still caused sleep problems -- but it didn't matter. I just ran the Anycomm executable, and it installed. It warned me that the Anycomm BT USB device was not found, I ignored the warning and the new drivers are there for the Dell device. They are listed as Broadcom.
All the BT functions are available, including an option to disable the BT device which wasn't there before. And now I can just download video drivers for fun, instead of hoping each time that this will be the one to cure the sleep problem. -
Hi, I'm just posting to thank you for your genius fix for my vista sleep problem - it was driving me crazy!
I followed your instructions and sleep now works perfectly! -
I still can't figure out how to do this...
I hate to be an idiot, but can someone post more detailed steps? For example, how exactly to uninstall the Dell BT drivers and how/where to install the ANYCOM drivers, etc.?
I use sleep all of the time with my laptops and can't stand not being able to with my new dell... -
Does anyone know if this fix is still relevant? If so, I'd also like some help... I can't find WIDCOMM BT 6.0.1.5300 and wonder if there's a newer version that I should be searching for. Thank you!
