Don't worry, this is not another "Is there a Bluray drive that will fit the M1330?" thread.

The M1330 has been out for awhile now. I was wondering if there are any new options/manufacturers for the CD/DVD slot drive? My device manager says I have the Mata (lol, it won't let me type out the whole name, i guess the forum thinks its a bad word), but when I cracked open my laptop the other day I noticed my drive said it was a Panasonic. Drive works fine with the exception that it can be loud at time (especially loading and ejecting discs). I was wondering or hoping that there might be some other or better options out there.

    Thanks,

    JD

Pioneer has a slot loading drive. Do you know what size/type your current drive is?

    I believe the M1330 uses a 9.5mm slot drive.

I really figured there would be more information on this. This forum has gone into depths about the different screens, and HDDs that come with the M1330, but no info of the optical drives?

I think that the answer is that there are no real upgrades/improvements for these drives. When I looked at this a year ago there was only one or two alternatives and they didn't seem to offer any benefits.
