I've noticed that occasionally I will get back to my M1330 which is plugged in and the screen will be black. The numlock LED, WIFI and Bluetooth LED will still be on, however my USB mouse will be powered off and there is no way to wake up the computer. I have to hold down the power button and turn it off and turn it back on again...

Has this problem happened to anyone else? I have Vista's power settings to say never sleep when the computer is plugged in so its a bit weird that I get this... I'm not sure if its even a real sleep state. The power LED doesn't strobe like when I close the lid, it just stays on.

Close the lid and open it.
The notebook should wake from standby.

No idea if thats intentional or not.

Closing and opening the lid would turn it off and on if it were set to do that. But it's not actually in standby (or sleep or hibernate) in the first place; even if the laptop is set to high performance and to never turn itself off, the screen randomly goes black and doesn't respond to anything (trying to put it in standby, closing/opening the lid, pressing the power button) except a hard shutdown. This has happened to me before too, and I haven't been able to duplicate it (nor figure it out).

Happens to me. Only thing I seem to be able to do when that happens is a hard reset.

On my dell 1520 when it goes to sleep and I open the lid once and a great while it does wake up, but if I press the Power button once it wakes it up. Try that before a hard reset.

In your Control Panel/Power Saving options, change what closing the lid does. I find it an annoying feature because if you shut down your computer and before it completely shuts down and you close the lid, it goes to sleep instead of fully shutting down.

    I know what it is!!
is happening to me as well, but I realized that the computer was still on the only thing off is the LED backlight! (if you leave something white on the desktop like a document you'll be able to see it)
the only solution I found was to close and open the lid (changed the config of the lid so it doesn't go into stand by)

something else I noticed is that it could go the other way instead of turning the LED off it would turn the whole screen WHITE! (I realized this by waiting 5 min until the screen should turn off, but instead it turns white) when I touch the mouse it resumes though.
Also, right before the computer shuts down the screen instead of going blabk it goes white, and then the pc turns off.

HAS anyone found a solution or the cause of this???
it's really annoying and my warranty is expired! :(
