So, I was planning to get one very soon, but it's not like that I'd need it right away. I can wait some time, lets say end of September.

Is there going to be any improvement by then in terms of new montevino processor or a similar laptop to the 1330.

its not about the money rather that I wouldn't want to buy it when something's new is going to come out or some big improvement which I'd miss.

what would you recommend me to do?

i know i cant wait forever, there will always be something else, better etc... but i am planning to keep this notbook for 3-4 years, so i should be happy with it.

What do you need the laptop for? It's not the CPU that's the bottleneck in the m1330, it's the GPU.

The CPU in the M1330 is an older generation Intel Core 2 Duo. The Centrino 2 will be available in the next line. I would not get a M1330 with the Nvidia 8400M at this time as there is too much risk to get a defective Nvidia chip. That's just my opinion, YMMV. I think if the price is good and you can use the Intel graphics, then the M1330 is a good computer. I was going to buy a M1330 before I learned about the Nvidia graphics but I thought I should be able to pay the same price and get notebook with the newer Centrino 2 Montevina processor and more laptops are coming out with LED. Also, I was hoping with the release of more laptops, that prices would come down a bit because of competition. That remains to be seen, however.

The only way to avoid the reported Nvidia issues and still have usable game capability would be to go ATi, I guess.

the m1330 comes with an LED screen.

so when can we expect the "new line" similar to the m1330?

I'm in the same boat. I found that Apple Macbooks and Sony SR's are too expensive and not worth the investment.

Is there a chance Quad Core is coming to the M1330s? I would love having Quad Core capability on such a small laptop.

If you like the M1330 and want a good deal I would get it now.
Otherwise wait and get what is coming out new.
As I read they are stopping the xps 1330 line.

    Hi!Hi!
If you want to order now (and it seems, like you do)...why not? Everyday you wait...puts off another day of receiving the notebook you know you want! ;) I did this for a bit...and in the end when I finally ordered, I questioned myself as to why I waited for so long! Procrastination! :)

You, are aware that things are changing with the XPS line, I'm sure by now. You can get some really great deals on the XPS's now. :D

In the end that choice is *yours*! It just depends on much you really want the notebook! The 1330 and the 1530 are very sweet lappy's ;) :)

With technology things change daily, great deals change daily...Do you want to wait for those changes? Or, hop on it now and get what you want ordered? :D

Those are questions, I asked myself..And then I finally ordered and what a relief it was! ;) :)

If you want to wait til the end of September for any new releases, and have that *patience*..that's a good thing! ;) :)

    Hope that helps!

    Cin ;) :)

So does this problem affect all m1330's or is it just pot luck.
I'm trying to decide between this and the Samsung Q210.

If you have a Staples near by, they are clearing out older models of the XPS M1330 for $650 (T5450 1.66ghz core2duo, 2gb ram, 120gb hdd). It was listed in Sunday 8/17's newspaper advertisement here in the Denver, Colorado area.

I just got my 1330 today and I really like it! However I REALLY hope they announce a new XPS... or should I say STUDIO XPS... soon, so I can decide if I want to return this one... If I don't hear anything about a new XPS by Sept. 6th... I'm going to have to make a hard decision on returning this one...
