    I know someone who replaced there black one with a red one. Took about 30 mins

    But what is involved in the process of changing that out?

    Do you have to remove the screen, etc?

    Once you dismount the LCD assembly, it should just be a simple matter of swapping the lids. You might need to reroute the antennas and such, but it shouldn't be difficult. I'd say 30 minutes does sound about right for the entire process. Maybe more if you're not particularly tech savvy.
