Disabling the 802.11a band on my Dell Studio 15's "Dell Wireless 1510 Wireless-N WLAN Mini-Card" got rid of the crackling audio. Thanks!
But now I'm hoping someone with networking knowledge can help me understand this situation. First off, I'm using a Netgear WNDR3300 Dual Band Wireless-N Router. When I'm connected via a wireless "n" connection to the router using the 5Ghz band, and I disable the "802.11a" band on my Dell wireless card to get rid of the crackling audio, my wireless card no longer recognizes the "n" connection my router has through the 5Ghz band. I can only connect through a "g" connection at 2.4Ghz.
Just wondering why disabling the "a" band on the wireless card would screw up my "n" connection on the 5Ghz band? Thanks.

Next check router settings the your band or bands are also set and save all settings on exit. -
Hi BlackRussian,
Thanks for the quick response, but I'm not sure that I follow. I'm new to the world of wireless networking, so I'm not quite sure how to do what you're suggesting. Can you give more specifics? Thanks.
