My M1330 recently failed and Dell sent a tech to replace the motherboard. When the tech was finished, the unit did not want to turn on. So he contacted Dell and they authorized a replacement for my laptop. I was given a case number but no details regarding the replacement.
I contacted dell online chat and requested info on the replacement model and they want to send me a Ruby Red Studio 1458 with a Core I3-370M, 3GB of Ram, 320GB Hard Drive, and 1G ATI Radeon 5450, hi def full led display, 6 cell battery, internal backlight keyboard.
Do you think this is the best I could get? When I asked the dell online chat about declining the replacement model. He said if I declined, the only other option is to try to repair my m1330 again. uggghh

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Well it is really Dell's discretion, but why not try to opt for a XPS 14? Studio are being phased out..
-
far as i know, the XPS 14 has been phased out too, or at least they're not available at this time. might have to try pushing for the XPS 15
if that fails, at least try to push for better specs in your replacement unit: i5 processor, higher resolution panel, or better graphics if it's available in the Studio 14. milk it as much as you can without being too greedy -
The Dell Rep told me that they can not offer a new system replacement for a system that is 3 years old. lol. I asked them for a refund to see what they say. -
Refund or replacement equivalent to or better than current laptop. PERIOD.
I went round and round with the replacement of my 1330.
You want XPS. You bought that series for a reason. If they can't provide that, then provide a refund. -
then as RT says, get the replacement or get a refund. the Studio is likely better than your current M1330, save for the GPU (don't know what you have in your 1330)

I agree with the previous posters, you bought an XPS, you should get an XPS, its not your fault they don't have the other ones in stock. Why should you have to get a downgrade because your laptop, that they made went bad because of their manufacturing. Its their fault, not yours (unless it is, like accidental or something). Stand your ground, and if they are not doing anything, climb up the ladder.
