You're going to have to have them come back again. Sounds like they may have not hooked up that connection.
-
Yeah, a few wires were not reconnected properly.
-
youv gotta be joking! ahhh
-
so its not a driver that needs to be installed?
-
Nope...the tech did not put it together properly.
-
Ok.. i called just before. And the agent said a technician will be coming in today within 4 hours TO FIX THE VOLUME ETC.. BUTONS.. so before 10pm.
Now im back on my laptop, and i noticed just under the screen where it has the DELL logo, but more to the left, the black strip part which is meant to be connected to the bottom of the LCD is loose!! There is at least 1.5mm gap between that and the screen and that thick dust cant fit in.
Also when i touch the black strip where it is loose, the lights or LED switches OFF!! OMFG
Should i show this to the technician when he comes in today? Or do I have to report it again on the phone.
BTW, calling up on the phone is terrible, waited at least 30mins to get thru. -
Your sig says that you have a Penryn. How old is the laptop? Why not ask for a system exchange?
EDIT: Sorry I got confused with something else
But even then, I think you can demand for a system exchange with all those problems you have mentioned. -
Looks like the field service is a hit-or-miss like the quality control in manufacturing.... The touch-sensitive buttons malfunction is most likely b/c the tech did not hook up the small connector on the underside, that by itself is an easy fix if the connectors were not damanged.
The LCD bezel is a known issue, some unit has better fit & others don't. Some of the bowing appears to be caused by improperly routed wiring while othres are fom broken clips.
The area you mentioned (lower bezel to the left of Dell logo), there're connectors at the lower edge of the LCD behind the bezel, sounds like a loose connection if the backlight goes out when pressed.
Good luck...
