I've just installed 178.13 (vista x64) drivers for my m1330 and it's got FAR FAR slower in any games I run on it.....

Got the drivers from laptopvideo2go as the Dell one's are really old- how comes these newer one's do not work with the M1330?

    :(

Are there no other driver packages available from Nvidia support? What Nvidia chip is it?

No- nvidia drivers do not work as Dell stop them being installed without a modified inf file.

    It's a 8400gs.

Can you not edit the INF file using data from the Dell INF file?

I haven't had this driver yet, but I have been reading about the performance, and looks like its not good compared to previous versions.. there are reports from other users too about the performance being down, not in general though, but in specific games...

Lets just say Crysis Warhead went from being kinda playable to a complete slideshow. And dawn of war is also pig slow now- definately something vastly amiss here!

And laptopvideo2go provides the modified inf files so technically it should work fine!

For now I would roll back the driver until a newer one comes out or contact laptopvideo2go and quiz them. So to confirm.. the laptopvideo2go INF file will not work with the latest Nvidia driver??

the modded inf file does work, else you would probably not be able to install the driver, since the driver is for desktops. the modded inf file includes info on the mobile cards, so that u can install it on ur laptop...

So I wouldn't assume its because of the modded inf file, per se...

yeah the inf file definately works- it's just some problem with the drivers methinks!

I've tried the one's just previous and they seem better :) Cheers anyways!

There is 'the best driver' as such.. what works for one, might not for something else.. You just have to play around with a few drivers.. and generally the OEM drivers are supposed to be the optimal for everything concerning ur particular system n vid card...

I've been using the drivers from Dell for my system, and its all been fine n healthy...

For any specific issues u have, one possible way to get some nice driver' is to go to laptopvideo2go and look for drivers that people report to be good for, say a particular game / games... else I would just stick with the latest from Dell as long as everything is working fine...
