Okay, so just for a bit of background info, I thought I'd copy paste the start of my problems from a post I made on the Mozilla forums:

So, I installed some anti malware tool, when it was running my PC decided to crash and when I restarted it, it would bring me to the Start Up Repair tool when trying to start Windows Vista (Safe Mode as well)

Unfortunately, it runs extremely slowly and is guaranteed to crash in the middle of the scan and bring up a BSOD.

Another unfortunate matter is the fact that I currently have no way of recovering the data on my PC. I remember the back up tools available on my brother's HP PC if you cancel the start up repair allowing to back up directories and files onto an External Hard drive. But I don't think Dell allows for this so I'm at a bit of a loss on what to do now to save all my files.

Anyone got any idea how I can save my stuff?
    Cheers

I don't think your laptops on the verge of death. All you need to do is re-install Windows.

If you just need to get data off the drive, just hook it up to another machine and copy your files off. Then you can do the reinstall, etc.

Aye buy yourself an empty 2.5" USB hard disc caddy, remove the drive from your laptop and install it into the caddy. You can then plug it into another PC and simply copy the files you want to keep onto this (assuming your disc has not been encrypted in any way).

With this done, re-format the disc and reinstall your OS / Drivers and you will have a perfectly working and hopefully much faster machine. Install Windows Security Essentials or the like and then try not to click on any dodgy internet links lol.
