For some reason my m1330 will not go to sleep mode either when I close the lid or press the power button.
It almost 'pretends' like it is going to sleep (the fans and what have you turn off) but then it instantly starts back up again.

Am I the only one having this problem? What is the solution?

There are hundreds of google threads about similar problems. It can be faulty video card graphics, network card drivers or power management configurations. Again, search google for "vista immediately wakes up after sleep" or something along those lines.

Sadly, I had that computer on my desktop and couldn't figure out any way to solve it other than a reinstallation of Vista. My problem was relatively unique, though, and I'm fairly certain I messed it up.

First step is to open your start menu, type "cmd" in the search box, right click on the "cmd" icon that comes up and click "Run as administrator"

    Type:
    Code:
    powercfg /devicequery wake_armed
To see what devices are capable of waking up your computer and
    Code:
    powercfg /lastwake
To see what device woke your computer during its last sleep cycle
