Hello,
Since two days I am unable to connect to my router (linksys WRT54G) with the wi-fi card in my M1330.
I thought it was and issue with the router but all other devices that are connected to it work fine.
The issue is that now I am unable to connect to the router anymore.
It sees the SSID of the network (full signal as the router is 3m from the notebook).
I enter the security key but it says "unable to connect to network".
CARD IS DELL 1505 DRAFT 802.11N
I tried the following:
- reseting router
- removing the security key (unsecured network)
- reinstalled wi-fi card drivers
- I even reinstalled the OS! TWICE! even Windows 7 and XP.
Same issue... unable to connect to network.
Could it be that the card itself is broken?
Anyone had this problem before?
Please give me some suggestions cause I am out of ideas.
Thanks
-
Change your Router's SSID NAME
-
Is it posible that the card got broken? even if it recognized and sees all networks arround?
thanks -
you did a reinstall or a clean install OS?
if clean install, try connecting to someone else's router. If still the same thing then it could be Drivers or card somehow died but that would be a first. -
Also tried connecting to someone elses network but the issue is the same... -
Bad Drivers or Card is bad.
What is the error you get when you try to connect?
Is your laptop under warranty? -
Anyway I attached the error I get after entering the security key.
Looks like the card is faulty or something... I ordered a new one... Intel Wifi Link 5300... hope it's better than the one I currently have.Attached Files:

(hard) reset your router... thats the way my router works too (mines a Netgear WNR834B with DD-WRT).... if it overloads, i need to reset it(it happens like once a month when >15 of my dorm mates connect at once)
or try using NO security for your wireless..., and use B/G only...
EDIT: (try having so many clients on a consumer-grade router... mine didnt crash, but it stopped responding and had OP's error if you try to connect...
-
Even if I set the router to no security the card won't connect. Dunno what the issue might be. -

do u have another laptop with wireless card? create an ad-hoc WAP with ur m1330... and try to connect to it

Thanks. -
Is your Laptop under warranty? if so whynot call dell and get a wireless card replacement?
-
Yes it's still under guarantee but I don't wanna call Dell... I'm waiting everytime at lease 40min untill somebody picks up the phone and other 30min untill the stupid help desk agent understands what the problem is... and than x days untill somebody comes to fix it.
I paid 50$ for the new card... time is more important to me.
The card will arrive on wednesday i guess... hope it will fix the issue.
thanks -

well I would love to use the online chat but after I enter my Service Tag it says "service not supported for your product" or something like this...
Anyway I just got the new Intel Wifi Link 5300 card and it works excellent. Signal is awsome... 3 rooms away from the router I have 4/5 bars with this card were with the Dell one I only had 1or2 bars.
Excelent transfer rates too... I can only recommend it to anyone...

My same cart died today i think. Speed was becoming slow and then it simply did not connect to wireless router. Only connection i could get was local.
Is there a way to diagnoze a wi-fi card? -
