Hi there,
I'm the owner of a M1330 laptop with Vista Home Premium. Bought it on eBay with not Dell-genuine hard disk (originally there was some SSD drive), now I have a Seagate ST9200420ASG.
When I press Sleep button on Vista, screen goes dark, everything seems to be OK... except one thing: hard disk stops (in "safe" way, I think), then starts (why?) and suddenly stops again (in case of no power, as if electricity was suddenly took away).
Is it normal behaviour? I'm afraid that it can decrease time of life of my hard disk. What can I do to solve that problem?
Regards,
Mysz

When its on the sleep state, the HD shouldnt be moving at all. You should only be able to see a light blinking every few seconds meaning its in sleep mode
Are you hearing any noises from the HD? -
I hear stopping disk after pressing "Sleep" button, then "starting" again (!) disk one second later and then laptop is cutting down the power for HD. Imagine the sound of working disk when you suddenly unplug the power cable - it's something like that.
I think it should stop just once, shouldn't it? -
Nobody has similar problem?
