    Hi everyone,

Just today I noticed that all of a sudden my letter "V" key on my XPS M1530 keyboard is kind of hard to press; that is, I have to put a big more pressure on it than on other keys to get it to work. The key is still "soft"; that is, it's not like I hae to put a lot of pressure just to get it to move at all, but I have to put more pressure to get it to move enough to register the press.

I've heard of a "keyboard bulge" issue with this laptop model and I'm not sure I hae the problem because I don't notice any noticable bulge and it's only a problem with this one key -- al the keys around it feel perfectly normal and fine.

Has anyone had a similar problem? Could it be a loose cable underneath the keyboard or something? Or maybe it's dirty underneath? .. :/ This is rather worrisome b/c I just now noticed it....

Thank you very much for any advice..
    dt_ :)

Maybe something is stuck underneath the key? Run some paper/cardboard under the key to see if you can dislodge anything.

Happens to me sometimes, just get a thing of canned air and blow under the key, there's probably a crumb lodged in there.

Just snap of the key and blow it out. Its very easy to snap off the keys and then snap them back on, just be careful.

    Good luck.

^ I'm kind of hesitant to do that because I don't want to risk breaking the key [permanently] but um.. if I decide to do it, how should I pull it off? Do I grab it from the upper part of the key and pull up and toward me?

edit SWEET! It looks like it worked! I had some crumb or piece of gunk underneath the key and after removing it and snapping the key back on it seems like it's all good. Thank you very much! And thanks to everyone else who helped by posting suggestions.. I really appreciate it :)

I'm glad it worked out for you. The keys are very easy to take off, so in the future if your having a similar problem, don't hesitate to snap of the key, just be careful.

Also about the keyboard bulge in some of the m1530s, it's only under the keyboard panel and not under the keys itself.
