    Hi,

I'm thinking of replacing the DVD drive in my M1530 (a Matshi-ta UJ-875S). Has anyone ever replaced the DVD drive of their M1530? Will any slim slot-in drive go in it? Are there any difficulties in doing the replacement?

    Thanks.

It isn't easy like the tray loading ones where you just remove one screw and it slides out. You will need to dismantle the entire notebook. I haven't seen any retail slot loading drives, so you would need to contact Dell parts to get one.

The problem with asking Dell is that my current drive works, it's just that I would like a different brand of drive. Is it possible to ask Dell for a different brand?
In any case, finding a retail slot-loading drive isn't a problem, there's a few I can buy. I'm just worried whether the slot-loading drive in the M1530 is a normal one or is thinner than regular drives which is sometimes the case in laptops.
