Well, my less-than-trusty M1530 has another problem.

    It won't charge a battery.

I have two batteries and multiple AC adaptors. Vista will tell me "Plugged in, not charging" and the battery charge remaining does not increase.

The BIOS screen says "AC Adaptor = Unknown device installed" when plugged in.

This happened on the same day that I upgraded the BIOS from A09 to A11. I then tried downgrading to A08, but the problem persists.

I'm on the phone with tech support now. Looks like they want to replace the motherboard.

    I hate this computer.

Hey, I don't know if this helps or not..but I had a issue with my battery not holding a charge on my 1530. The brick would power...just not the battery.

Dell ended up sending a Technician to my house also, to replace the Motherboard. And, they also sent a new brick/adapter.

After the techician replaced the motherboard, it has ran really well ever since.
(I still think the soldering was loose on the inside of the socket)

So, make sure they also send you a new brick/adapter with Tehnician when they come to replace your motherboard! :D

I'm sorry your having these troubles with your 1530 :( Hopefully it get's well soon for you.

    Cin ;) :)

Update: I flashed to the A09 BIOS, and now it is charging.

I am too scared to touch it again.

Take the battery pack and AC power out

Hold the power button for 30 seconds to discharge the system

    Try again
