I've had the motherboard in my M1530 replaced 5 or 6 times now, and I just got it back from service where they told me it would get an "updated" or "new version" of motherboard that would not have these issues. My laptop has died on me without me changing out the heat paste, and its died when I did change out the heat paste. It's died overclocked, underclocked and at stock speed. It's been a video card issue every time. Frankly I am completely fed up and very frustrated with dell support and the level of quality of this product.

I really don't want to deal with this anymore, my laptop has been out of commission for a total of maybe a month's worth of days. I didn't pay 2000 dollars for something that breaks every other week. I'm glad they've been good about fixing it, but this is just too far. Does anyone have any idea on what I might say to dell if i wanted my money back or if I wanted to gat a different model of laptop from them as a replacement, because honestly this has cost me far too much time and effort to be worth it in any way.

    /end rant

    P.S. m1530, 1920x1200, 4gb ram, 320gb hdd, 8600m GT 256mb

"My laptop has died on me without me changing out the heat paste, and its died when I did change out the heat paste. It's died overclocked, underclocked and at stock speed."

LoL. Just make sure you dont give more details about your address or service tag as dell technicians might be around here and read that.
Why do you change the heat paste ? Its not your job. Its your fault because you didnt finished the job (even if you did it right. Who gives a shi*? Its damaged and you changed something before..*bang*) = no warranty anymore. You overclocked it and it died. Fine but same problem, why do you overclock your sytem ? You know about the problems. Your fault. = no warranty anymore.
I also dont understand that sentence : "I've had the motherboard in my M1530 replaced 5 or 6 times now"
Must be a joke. 5 or 6 times ? I know exactly what technicians did at my laptop because you should have the Repair Oder Forms which you signed and I know what people do at my laptop...5 or 6 times sounds not professional.

Same with your thread title *6th or 7th death". Sorry man thats bullshi*. You wrote 5 to 6 times the mainboard died, the thread title says 6 or 7 times...

You wont get a replacement but maybe your money back. What I dont understand why you dont call dell and tell them that your mainboard got replaced allready 5 times. After the 3rd time usually they agree when you send the laptop to them (they pay postage of course) and then they test it.
Maybe that sounds bad man but I dont believe the story.

When you contact them don't mention the words overclocked. Better yet don't mention any word that has [...]clocked or [...]clocking in it.

Replaced the MB 5 or 6 times... Do you live in an area with an unusually high amount of lighting strikes or something?? Surely after the 3rd change of MB technicians should be looking somewhere else for the problem...

Mine is a similar story- Dell wouldn't budge. The rude indian guy even said "it doesn't matter what you say or what's wrong with the notebook- we will not refund or exchange, just repair".

At present i've logged a dispute with my credit card company in the hope that them threatening to sue for selling me a defective product will get them to refund me. :)

Don't worry, I'm pretty sure that if I was stupid enough to mention that I wouldn't have managed to get it replaced any of the other times. I was just ranting.

They did agree to have me send it in and that I would get an updated motherboard the last time. I think i'm just really unlucky or something, although to be fair I do some pretty heavy gaming for extended periods of time, but it is branded as a "gaming" laptop so that shouldn't be a problem.

P.S. After some testing and such I've ascertained that it's not actually dead, just the screen is broken/disconnected, as such I contend that I am indeed the unluckiest person ever. It's probably just karma for having a wonderful girlfriend lol.
