    Hello,

I just stumbled onto this site and I've been reading posts for hours. I wish I would have found it sooner! I have a M1530, with 3gb ram running Win7 32bit. So, from what I gather reading that the XPS M1530 will support either 6 or 8 gb of ram, but only with certain Bios versions? And those would be either A11 or A13, both of which I can't find anywhere. It sounds like Dell removed these from their site so that we wouldn't have this capability. If this is the only way this is possible, is there someone out there that has a copy of this file? Or is there another way? I currently have A12 installed.

I am running the Windows 7 32bit but I also have a copy of Windows 7 64bit. If I can get the ram I will switch over. Please any thoughts would be great!

Running A12 with 8gb's just fine here. Put in the new ram, load a 64 bit OS and go!

Really? Sweet! I thought I had read a few people say that it went away with the A12. Thanks for letting me know!
That's good, cause I was really starting to get upset, thinking that just as everyone figured out how to upgrade the Ram they would take the capability away. For example, why does their support site still say the maximum ram is 4 gig? And, they sell just about every part for computers but you can't buy the 4 gig sticks from them? Is it just that they not want to support it? I can't see how it could be harmful to the system, can it? And the whole thing with Windows 7 compatibility. I know these systems aren't new, but they aren't exactly ancient either.
I'm grateful to the webmaster of keyliner.blogspot.com as I was able to get up to speed with the current Win 7 drivers. These systems weren't cheap, so why should we have to go to these 3rd party links to locate drivers and not support.dell? I guess Dell is saying the M1530's are outdated.
Anyway, thanks again littlezipp. I can't believe how much time I've spent on this forum today, I think I'm addicted. If anyone else has any input/thoughts let me know. I.E. best current place to get the memory from. Also, the 4 gig sticks, are they available in both 667 and 800 speed? And is there a noticeable difference between the two? I understand that whatever speed I go with they must both either match or one would be under-clocked. I'm going to stop rambling and venting now as I feel better.
