Hi, I have an XPS M1530 and want to know if the graphics card can be upgraded or changed. I'm still relatively new to note books so pardon my ignorance. But is the graphics card soldered onto the motherboard? Or am I able to change it since the website included the option to.
I ask because I recently heard about the meltdown problems with the Nvidia 8600 gpu and that happens to be the one I have. I got the computer from a Bestbuy because I was looking at the configurations on the Dell site and then happened upon this one at the store and the price difference was too good to pass up. (1299 for a configuration that would have been much much more on the site). I also heard about the gtx 260 made to fit in 15" notebooks, would that work or am I stuck with a soldered on gpu. What are my options if I am? Is it expensive or even possible to get another mobo and a different card?
I'm gonna start ordering parts for a gaming desktop soon and want to know if I should hold off on that and get this taken care of or what. Lastly, I don't have any sort of warranty with Dell, I don't think, since I didn't buy directly from them. And I didn't get the Bestbuy warranty because I've yet to need a warranty for any electronic so far (starting to regret that now) so I'm not concerned about voiding any kind of warranty.
