    Hi Everyone,

I am a fairly amateur in my knowledge of hardware and I was wondering if it was possible to upgrade the Graphics card on my Dell XPS M1530. Its currently running a Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT with 256mb memory. If so what would you recommend as an upgrade? I understand that more memory is not necessarily better..? Thanks in advanced!!

generally speaking; if you have the mxm card listed; it is still hard to upgrade a notebook's graphic card.

looks like the dell m1530 is not on mxm list.

why do you want to upgrade your notebook graphics? the 8600m gt is the most powerful you can get for the 1530 (is it?)

no, more memmory does not always equal better performance. in general, the 8600m gt is designed to take 256mb vram any more is not really beneficial.

Thanks for the info wobble. As the previous chums pointed out there is already a substantial amount of material in the forums regarding this topic- thanks for pointing that out, chums. Yeah it is the most powerful you can get it with for the M1530. I was just speculating about if it is possible or not, as this is my only computer. I was mainly thinking in terms of keeping up with the latest graphics etc in the future. Thanks again for the info.

PS. I dont know if this site has already been posted on notebookreview but it seems fairly relevant
