Building an M1530 from parts and got the LED screen, Chimei part number N154C6-L02 with cable N849D. Here is the problem; looking at the cable there is a connection for what could be an inverter/converter but I cannot find a part number from Dell or anywhere else. Does anyone know what part this is and where I can get one? Is it the same as other Dell models with the WSXGA+ LED?

Look here also back-lit board..

And here are both standard and back-lit

I'm not too familiar or at all for that mater with these inverter boards. Is it as simple as getting one to match the resolution of the screen? So if the LED is WSXGA+ I would need to get an inverter for that display?

I've done a little research on this and spoke to people knowledgeable on the subject. With CCFL back light you have an inverter which converts DC to high voltage AC to power the light tubes. With LED back light you have a DC to DC converter, the purpose of which I'm not sure of but I think it simply smooths out the power sent to the LED so there isn't flicker with voltage variations.
This means an inverter for a CCFL back light is not compatible with an LED back light which is generally referred to as a converter.
Now if I could only find one for the LED screen I have. One issue could be that these converters have a much higher life time than the inverters.
If I'm missing the point here, please correct me as necessary, especially if you know where to find an LED converter for a Chimei LED back lite screen. -
I think I've found the required part number for the m1530 led converter. It's R770D.

Well I'm almost in the same situation than you, except that I don't have the cable. What happened is that I have a cracked 1280x800 CCFL screen, and thought I would simply buy a LED 1440x900 to replace it.
I got the Chi Mei N154C6-L02, but there wasn't any inverter, and the cable that comes from my CCFL M1530 does not fit the LED screen (cable is larger), notwithstanding that I don't have an inverter.
Do you have an idea where to purchase both cable and inverter ?
EDIT-I found both R770D and N849D on Ebay. However the converter seems to be much larger than the one I have for my CCFL screen. Where does the converter go ? Does it go near the screen or on the "base plate" ? In other words, is it possible to change a CCFL 1530 to a LED 1530 without too much trouble ?
