    Hi there,

I was a happy owner of my XPS M1530 for almost 10 months in a row now. I had a luck and received M1530 with LG Philips LCD - what a joy. Unfortunately LCD backlight started to dim out and I had to call Dell Czech for a replacement.

I requested to replace my faulty LCD with the same type (LG Philips) and CSR guy told me that's not a problem ordered one for me and the next day service man arrived. Replaced my faulty LCD no questions asked. Before he left I asked him if it is really LG Philips as I requested because the new one had quite less contrast and the viewing angle was also somehow diferent. We found out that the new one is manufactured by Optronics and is grainy.

Found a comparison pic on the internet: Grainy of the left, LG on the right

Well I am not happy with this one, it is much worse LCD than LG was. Called to Dell asked for immediate replacement. CSR guy told me it is not possible as Dell does not quarantee ANYTHING - check out our terms of sale. Did you get WXGA+ 1440x900? If so then don't complain was his answer.

I requested to put into my CRM that I am not satisfied with the new one and that I feel cheated as I was promised LG LCD over the phone. CSR guy promised to pass this info to his supervisor and that he will call me back. Two days passed no-one called and I am gonna call them on Monday again.

I expected that NBD service means I will get my notebook into the same condition as I bought it. Now I am pretty upset, wondering what to do to get the LCD I had in my brand new M1530. Any help?

    Thank you, Martin

Annoyingly enough if it was just the backlight that was playing up, you could have swapped the inverter over and everything would have probably been fine again :|

Major suckage what your going thru..

If all does not end well...you may want to have your situation forwarded to a Resultion Specialist.

Don't wait for the your case to be forwarded to a Supervisor. 99.9% of the time that doesn't happen. It's a means of the Rep, to get out of handling what is presented. :(

Your screen should be the way the way it was when purchased 10 months ago. Not bad.

I didnt expect I will end up with grainy one, I even dont know how to swap inverter and where to get it. But actually it has no sense now.

    LCD looked like this.

Cin, thank you. I knew the rep is kinda like firewall. I tried to break in for almost 22 minutes but no way. I will call them on Monday and will ask for Resolution Specialist as you suggested.

Yeah, I think that would be a good thing to do. If, that doesn't work..there is always the Unresolved Issues form, you can fill out. ;)

For future reference - the inverter is the small PCB at the bottom of the LCD panel.

Just an update of my situation:

Called Dell today, they put me thru three/ four times and I ended up with the guy who was much better to talk to then CRS guys. He told me that they are unable to order LG part, they order an item from their system (C930C - SVC, LCD, 15.4WXGA+, TLF,M1530) and they dont know what manufacturer it is going to be.

I told him that the new LCD hurts my eyes and that I can send him a picture showing that I didnt get the same quality LCD as I had (the same one I posted here) and that I want LG only. He gave me his email and I am going the send him above mentioned pic along with explanation of my situation today evening.

    To be continued ...
