I'm thinking about purchasing an OEM HDD from an online vendor (newegg, etc) as an upgrade for my M1530. Do I need any extra parts for the upgrade (cables, connectors, etc) beyond what is included with the OEM HDD package?

Nope, you just need recovery discs etc to reinstall. NOtebook hdds should plug straight in.

You can just use your current hard drive bracket to install your new hard drive. Just make sure to format the hdd before you install the os.
