It's not really that you "need" it, I just want the feature there to perform the Dell factory image restore.

gone forever man, I deleted it too by mistake, haha, and lost space in my disc in the way, I'm working on it.
But, it's not a need, you have the Vista DVD, the Media Direct DVD and Drivers DVD ... it's all you need.

Always make a copy of those, optical discs are very delicate.

    Cheers.

Yeah I was kinda thinking that, but I thought I saw some people trying to back up that partition? Maybe if it was backed up, it could be restored? I don't know I'm just throwing it out there.

So, you guys are asking someone to backup a 3-5 GB partition, split it into pieces, and painstakingly upload it to a storage server (e.g., rapidshare), so that you can download and have a restore partition that you deleted, while still having your installation and driver DVDs??? That's a lot to ask, dont you think? :D

Maybe just back it up using acronis trueimage home edition or ghost and stick it on an external usb drive or a dual layer dvd instead.

Then what? Mail the DVD or the USB drive to g3teg97 and kingofmummy?

If it was already done, and there's an easy way to get it, then fine, but no one needs to do all that just for a couple people that accidently deleted that partition.

i formatted my windows vista and installed vista ultimate on it. i never touched the recovery partition.

Next time, you use the MEDIA direct CD to create a partition for your recovery partition and windows vista drive (a third drive will be good for your data if you want).

then install windows vista dvd and specify the vista drive as your primary partition. that's it.

Does anyone have any experience with partition recovery tools that you can download online?
