Does anyone know what the sound hardware in the M1530 (UK model) is? The US website allows you to pay extra for either Audigy or an Expresscard X-Fi module, but there is no option for such customisation in the UK.

    It's not a software, it's expresscard from Creative with 5.1 & 7.1 audio.

The Audigy option is just some software that is supposed to "enhance" the audio experience. It really is useless if you plan on just using the laptop speakers and aren't connecting to external speakers. The X-Fi module is an express card which allows for external speaker connectivity. If you plan on using external speakers, definitely invest in the X-Fi card, as it offers EXTREMELY good sound quality compared to the built in crappy hardware that the laptop comes with.
