Well I think that my heart has been set on buying the XPS M1530 now. Before I buy I wanted to clear up a couple issues that I have heard about it.

    1) The noise issue, I have heard the the DVD rom could make some noise and also the hard drive. Is this a issue that everyone has or just some early bugs that were ironed out. If it does exist is it really loud or just something picky people are complaining about.

    2) My own worry is that the no clasp design of holding down the screen just seems little weird. Does anyone have a problem with the design of this or does it stay shut just fine.

Thanks for any feedback and reasurrance of this buy in advance.

    1. The noise issue is just on some computers not all of them.
    2. Can't answer as mine still havent arrived.

Find a good discount and purchase. I'm waiting for mine...argh delivery people are so slow...It's always been a week since dell shipped it out.

I don't have a M1530, but the various posts about DVD noise were just when injecting and ejecting.

I believe there have been two or so posts of hard disk noise, but unfortunately one of them was the pre-production sample that was reviewed. Hard disk noise is not a problem according to numerous posts.

Ok this sounds pretty good to me, as long as its not noisy when spinning a dvd I am happy

And with the hard drive, I knew that didnt show up much and was just hoping it was an early problem that was fixed and didnt show up in random laptops
