Just formated my XPS M1530 and installed Windows XP on it since I found Vista slowing it down massively.

I started off with installing the graphic drivers, then the chipset driver (Graph from Nvidia.com and chipset from dell.com support site). Then I installed the audio drivers and they didnt work. It just says *this device isnt working properly*

those were the Vista drivers that Dell recommended but I tried the drivers for XP as well and they give me the same problem.

Saw in some thread some guy talking about a patch needed to be installed before you installed the sound drivers, but he didnt specify where and Ive tried searching alot of threads.

I ended up the first time, putting the drivers in through the add new hardware wizard, then going and running the installer.
